News: 2 drivers dead following wrong-way accident on U.S. 31 in Johnson County

JOHNSON COUNTY, IN – The Johnson County Sheriff said two drivers were killed when their vehicles collided south of Franklin on Monday night.

A report by WTHR states that the wreck took place in the area of U.S. 31 and State Road 252 at about 9 p.m.

According to sheriff’s deputies, a witness reported seeing a vehicle going south in a northbound lane of U.S. 31  and that it crashed head-on into a Krispy Kreme truck.  The two vehicles both caught fire and the drivers suffered fatal injuries.

The victims were identified as the driver of the car, 30-year-old Olivia Humes of Columbus, and the truck driver, 42-year-old Charles Cobb of Indianapolis.

The accident shut down U.S. 31 in both directions north of State Road 252.
